American Eagle unveils eighth Mexican route
American Airlines' regional operator American Eagle will fly nonstop between Miami and the Mexican island of Cozumel from March 2, 2007.
Flight 4947 will depart Miami International at 12.55pm each afternoon, arriving at Cozumel International at 2.30pm local time, before flight number 4948 makes the return journey at 3.15pm, touching down in Florida at 6.30pm.
American Eagle will transport passengers to its eighth Mexican destination in 64-seat ATR72 turboprop aircraft.
"Eagle's first direct route from Miami to Mexico supplements our extensive network throughout the Bahamas, the Caribbean, South and Central America," said American Airlines' Senior Vice-President Peter Dolara.
"American and American Eagle are committed to making Miami the premier connecting hub for Latin America," he added.
Renowned for excellent scuba diving among the nearby Caribbean Sea coral reefs, idyllic beaches, and ancient Mayan artifacts, Cozumel is a popular spring break vacation destination.
The largest regional carrier in the U.S., American Eagle recently announced two new nonstop links to the Alabama cities of Birmingham and Mobile from its Chicago hub.
