Eat healthy in Philadelphia

Given the fame of the Philly cheese steak, healthy eating is not something travelers readily associate with the City of Brotherly Love. Tasty food? Yeah. But healthy food?

A report by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine may alter some perceptions. The respected doctors' group gave Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) decent marks for healthy fare, ranking it seventh among the airports it surveyed. The group survey 13 aerodromes in all.

The skinny: at 86 percent of the 37 eateries at Philadelphia International you can choose from at least one low-fat, high-fiber, cholesterol-free vegetarian entrée.

PCRM says Philadelphia, “made a respectable debut” in its survey. Where's the healthiest fare to be found at PHL? The docs single out the vegetable sandwich or pasta marinara at Cibo Bistro Wine Bar, the veggie bowl at Asian Chao, and the veggie wraps or salads at Lamberti's International.

For those determined to chuck it all and eat what they want, there's always cheese steak.
