JetBlue eases luggage restrictions
© JetBlue AirwaysPassengers traveling with JetBlue Airways over the festive period will be buoyed by news that fees on larger baggage have been waived by the carrier.
From today (December 21) through January 3, 2007, checked luggage weighing up to 60 pounds will be allowed on board for free. Levies still apply to bags in excess of this weight, as well as to oversized luggage that is taller, deeper or wider than 62 inches.
The festive allowance is in keeping with JetBlue's desire to "bring humanity back to air travel", according to the carrier's Founder and Chief Executive David Neeleman.
Members of the airline's frequent-flier program TrueBlue will also receive two points for simply checking in for a flight online through January 4, 2007, as recommended in JetBlue's seasonal travel advice.
"By allowing an extra ten pounds per checked bag and by offering extra TrueBlue points and simple travel tips to our customers, we hope to help make travel as comfortable as possible during this special, yet busy time of year," Neeleman said.
Luggage restrictions are eased on all of the carrier's flights, bar those to and from Santiago in the Dominican Republic.
JetBlue reminds passengers flying this Christmas not to wrap presents until they reach their destination, that each flier is only allowed one quart-sized clear bag for liquids, suggests that customers make the most of complimentary in-flight food, and recommends waiting to stow coats and bags in overhead lockers.
The last items in at the start of the flight will be the first out again, the airline observes.
