Winter weather causes travel chaos
Winter storms grounded flights in and out of Des Moines, Denver, and Colorado Springs airports yesterday, with many passengers still stranded at each.
Inbound planes were diverted to Utah as Colorado disappeared beneath more than a foot of snow.
And all three airports were forced to cancel all flights yesterday (December 20) as adverse conditions made flights impossible. Wintry weather has disrupted travel in several western states of the U.S. and festive travelers are advised to check with their airline before departing for the airport.
Dense fog has also caused travel chaos in Britain this week, grounding hundreds of flights in and out of London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as connections to airports up and down the country.
British Airways has been forced to cancel all domestic services via its Heathrow hub.
Passengers flying to or via the U.K. this festive period should contact their carriers prior to travel. Latest reports from the British airport operator BAA indicate that flights to Gatwick and Southampton or the Scottish airports Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Aberdeen are running with delays.
Flights in and out of London Stansted - used by the majority of the low-cost carriers - continue to be unaffected by the adverse conditions.
