Extra flights from the Golden Gate to Sydney Harbor
Australia's largest airline, Qantas, is to increase flight volumes between San Francisco and Down Under from March 26.
The carrier currently connects Sydney and the Bay Area with three weekly flights, but the service will be stepped up to five per week after Easter.
"Given San Francisco's popularity, Qantas will boost capacity by 66 per cent and operate two additional services each week," said John Borghetti, the airline's Executive General Manager.
"Qantas resumed services three times a week between Sydney and San Francisco in March 2006, and the destination has quickly established itself as a popular option for people traveling between Australia and the United States."
As reported yesterday, Qantas will also loft additional flights between Los Angeles and Sydney for the peak season.
Formed in 1920, Qantas is the second-oldest continually operating independent airline in the world, and claims to offer more links between the United States and Down Under than any other carrier.
