Savings and Deals

Southwest puts regional cities on sale from Houston

Live in Texas? You understand viscerally that driving distances aren't like they are in the rest of the country. The vast state can swallow two or three tanks of gas on a trip and not even burp. It often is, quite literally, cheaper to fly than drive. To drive home the point, Southwest is offering discount airfares throughout Texas and a couple of adjoining states for as low as $49.

Today Cheap Flight News will concentrate on savings from one of Southwest's key focus airports: Houston Hobby (HOU). Later this week we'll detail discount airfares from other Texas towns.

All the discount airfares we're about to quote are one-way, and you don't need a round-trip purchase to take advantage of them. You will, however, have to purchase these tickets by January 22 and travel through May 10. Neither taxes nor fees are included in these quotes, and a 14-day advance purchase is required.

That said, these are the savings Southwest Airlines is serving up from Houston:

- Amarillo (AMA) $79
- Austin (AUS) $49
- Corpus Christi (CRP) $49
- Dallas Love Field (DAL) $49
- El Paso (ELP) $79
- Harlingen/South Padre Island (HRL) $49
- Little Rock (LIT) $79
- Lubbock (LBB) $79
- Midland/Odessa (MAF) $79
- Oklahoma City (OKC) $79
- San Antonio (SAT) $49
- Tulsa (TUL) $79
