UFO observed at Chicago O'Hare
Workers at Chicago O’Hare were apparently stunned in November by the spectacle of a UFO hovering up above.
The United Airlines employees, including a number of pilots, informed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that the strange object spent a short time hanging above an airport terminal before disappearing into the clouds.
According to The Chicago Tribune, specialists in the O'Hare control tower were unable to find any trace of the mysterious craft, with the radar showing no evidence that it was ever there at all.
Elizabeth Isham Cory, FAA spokeswoman, said: "Our theory on this is that it was a weather phenomenon. That night was a perfect atmospheric condition in terms of low [cloud] ceiling and a lot of airport lights. When the lights shine up into the clouds, sometimes you can see funny things."
With this in mind, the FAA will not be investigating the incident, much to the annoyance of those who claim to have seen it.
Witness reports indicate that the aircraft was at least six feet in diameter and that it made no noise whatsoever. There are some inconsistencies, however, with some saying it was rotating and others insisting it remained perfectly still.
Craig Burzych, one of the controllers at O'Hare, joked: "To fly seven million light years to O'Hare and then have to turn around and go home because your gate was occupied is simply unacceptable."

So all those people saw the UFO and no one had a digital camera??... Ummmm yeah.

I find it amazing that, still to this day, when reports are made by several eyewitnesses to federal agencies, the agencies will explain what everyone saw with some kind of explanation that is sometimes even harder to believe than the sighting itself. I mean, if I see something... I am sure I can tell the difference between a solid object... And a "reflection" of lights on the clouds. Come on. Why are federal agencies always asked to investigate such things when people should know that they are not going to make a statement even if they found an actual ET. The truth is out there, but with people in the FAA who still believe that weather is the explanation to everything... The truth will remain out there. So here is a weather term they should really be using to explain it: snow job.

Newtonian theory on the physics regarding inertia suggest it impossible that a natural phenomena slow down and/or reverse direction in the absence of an opposing force. Claims made by more than one individual are either conspiratorial or real. If not a conspiracy for attention, someone should provide a more plausible explanation than a weather phenomenon. As a scientist, that seems at best a childish and exhausted explanation for what was described.

Well, this event took place at 4:30pm on 11/6/06 at O'Hare. According to http://www.fltplan.com/AirportInformation/RFD.htm this would have been 10-15 minutes before sunset. How visible would ground lights reflecting off of clouds be at this point? Probably not very. Also, I find it interesting that some of the witnesses were commercial pilots, who would most likely know much more about weather phenomena than the federal employees that were not there but are making that claim. It is behavior such as this from government agencies that fosters distrust in either honesty or competency. I am not sure which is worse.

stdope10, I don't carry a digital camera to work as probably most people. I have a camera built into my phone, but it is neither quick to take a photo nor would you recognize anything in the picture if I was to try to take a sky shot around sunset. Does calling people (those who reported this) liars really have to be the first response to people reporting things like this? If that proves the case then run their hides up the flagpole, I am fine with that. But it is very conceivable that they saw something, the uncertainty at this point is exactly what they saw. From the other reports I have read on this issue it was described as saucer shaped, no lights and rotating. It could be a weather phenomenon as stated (Windy City after all) or who knows what. I admire the courage of people in that situation who come forward, knowing the possible ridicule that they may face. As long as they are being truthful that is.

Mr Stdope, consider that there may be many reasons why no picture is provided: 1) none was provided to the paper, or 2) the craft was visible for too brief a time.
It is utterly unimaginable to believe that the human race is the highest evolved species in the universe, and that no species anywhere in the universe during the past 15 billion years has developed interstellar travel.
IMO, we have already been discovered by alien species, but it has been decided by them that we are either too unevolved (or dangerous) at this moment to establish equal contact with. Any species such as ours that has not solved the problems of war, hunger, and poverty is not very civilized, IMO.

As a representative of the general population at large, I am in complete agreement with scientist Mark Allen, MD. Inexplicable weather phenom, hmmm? You'd think at least the technology for excuses for the unexplained would have advanced since the 1950s. Then again it could be global warming, and perhaps Chicago is now experiencing the same weather patterns as 20th century Roswell. Ya, I'll bet that's it. Patty O'Kane, Illinois.

The UFOs are interstellar species that don't want anything to do with us humans. They don't have no stupid ball teams like us that lose in the first inning. We excel only in crazyiness. I understand the UFOs well. I'm sure they also hate the Big Macs. They for sure have better food and they exercise.

This statement by the FAA is exactly what one would expect from a corrupt government with a shadowy government that really is the brains behind everything. I am starting to believe that short of riots in every freaking city in the country, these fools will continue to hide the truth and tell the American public that they are crazy. Every freaking civilization in the history of the world has not only records, and drawings about other worldly beings, some have entire books written on stone detailing these encounters. Now you tell me that every civilization in the entire history of the world saw some strange weather phenomenon. Our government is worse then any you could find on the news. Even past presidents have commented on ET's. Just check it out.

Several people swore to me today that there was a cookie on my desk this morning. I have searched and searched for it all day. Nobody has a valid explanation for where the cookie went to or how it got to my desk. There's no evidence it was here, there's no way I can rewind the tape of reality to discover what became of it, and the more time I sit here wondering about this mysterious cookie I wish I could be eating, my hourly wages are being squandered. Now if there had been maybe a few crumbs left behind that would at least give me a hint or clue or direction to follow... but with nothing else to go on, it's better to not waste any more time and money searching. At the end of the year I'll have to explain this to the boss.

A phenomenon that a trained and experienced pilot could and apparently did mistake for a solid object would seem to pose a threat to navigation. If such weather phenomenon exist wouldn't further investigation into this unusual weather effect be in the interest of public safety?

It's one thing to see a strange light in the sky, it's quite another to see a metallic object. I believe the people who witnessed the UFO. Many years ago, a friend and I saw a silver disc-shaped object. It was a solid object, not a light in the sky. We told our parents. A family member worked for the Courier Journal, Louisville, Ky and reported our sighting. Within the week, our parents were contacted by a "government official" who asked to talk with us. My friend, her parents, and I met with him in their home. He interviewed us separately then showed us photos of similar "UFOs", explaining "we don't know what they are." He warned us not to say anything to anyone and gave us a card to carry with a phone number to call if we were contacted by anyone else. He alluded that "they" could be from another country's government. Over the years I have decided that we saw an experimental flight using a craft from Wright Patterson Air Force base. I do not believe the object was "man-made" because I have never seen anything like it since and the speed when the object shot straight up - without ever making a sound - was incredible. Chicago is close enough to Wright Patterson so I believe our guys are still experimenting with captured technology.
