Midwest Airlines to link Omaha, Los Angeles

Want to fly nonstop from Omaha (OMA) to Los Angeles (LAX)? You can’t do it, at least not now. That scenario will change on May 1 when Midwest Airlines launches nonstop service between the two cities.

Midwest will field a new Boeing 717s on the once-daily run. The twinjet is fitted for the carrier’s Signature Service – 2x2 seating, extra legroom, Recaro seats and such.

There will be an early morning departure from Omaha’s Eppley Airfield on the west-bound leg, and an early evening departure from LAX on the return. The schedule affords fliers the opportunity of flying into LA in the morning, put in a full day’s work, and then return home that night to sleep in their own bed. It’s a great way to save money on hotel rooms.

Midwest Airlines has been a significant player in the Omaha market for years. The high-frills airline already offers nonstop service from OMA to both Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA), and the carrier’s hub at Milwaukee Mitchell International (MKE).
