United and JetBlue waive change fees
Passengers booked to fly via Chicago, Boston, New York, or Washington D.C. through Thursday (March 1) may be entitled to a refund or free rebooking.
Low-cost carrier JetBlue has opted to waive change fees for fliers due to travel in or out of Chicago O'Hare, Logan International, Port Columbus International, Pittsburgh International, Washington Dulles, New York JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports today (Monday, February 26), because of inclement weather.
Alternative arrangements can be made free of charge through Thursday. JetBlue customers may also be entitled to travel vouchers if they suffered delays of more than 30 minutes. Ground delays upwards of an hour will entitle customers to a voucher worth $100.
United Airlines has also taken steps to avert winter travel chaos amid severe conditions. Change fees will be waived and flights cancelled in advance. Passengers who may be affected are advised to check united.com or call the carrier on 1-800-864-8331 before traveling.
Flights via the Illinois-based airline's Chicago hub, in and out of Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, or through Minneapolis are those most likely at risk, according to a release.
