Savings and Deals

US Airways' practically perfect Pittsburgh deals

US Airways has been a Pittsburgh (PIT) player for decades. Now, it is having one of the most dramatic fare sales in the carrier's long Steel City tenure, with one-way discount airfares starting at $29.

To land one of these deals, book by March 22, and finish the trip by June 13. Do that and deep discount airfares to 56 destinations can be yours, with price breaks of up to 63 percent. If you've been looking to visit friends or relatives, this is the window you've been waiting for.

All the discount airfares we're about to quote are one-way, and predicated on a round-trip purchase.

Neither taxes nor fees are included, and a 14-day advance purchase is entailed as is an overnight stay. Those restrictions make the discount airfares less attractive to business travelers, who often have to make last-minute day trips. Still, for leisure fliers, these are great deals. Consider this sampling of cities out of Pittsburgh:

- Newark (EWR) $29
- New York LaGuardia (LGA) $29
- Boston (BOS) $39
- Baltimore/Washington (BWI) $42
- Chicago O'Hare (ORD) $49
- Philadelphia (PHL) $49
- Erie, PA (ERI) $50
- Columbus, OH (CMH) $50
- Harrisburg (HAR) $50
- Buffalo (BUF) $50
- Toronto (YYZ) $65
- Rochester, NY (ROC) $65
- Scranton, PA (AVP) $65
- Syracuse (SYR) $65
- Indianapolis (IND) $75
- Norfolk (ORF) $75
- Albany (ALB) $75
