American Airlines gives away a million miles

Register with American Airlines' frequent-flier program or refer a friend to the carrier's promotional Web site for the chance to win a share of a million bonus miles.

Passengers can enter the sweepstakes for the Million Mile Give Away up to three times, and don't even need to book a flight. Participants will vie for the grand prize of 250,000 miles with AAdvantage, the world's largest loyalty program.

Thirty runners-up will also walk away with 25,000 bonus miles each, and the closing date for entries is April 10. Winners will be notified by June 15.

"American is proud of our new AAdvantage award booking tool, which makes it easier for our AAdvantage members to redeem miles," said Kurt Stache, President of AAdvantage Marketing.

"With the successful launch of the new tool, we are giving members the opportunity to win a share of one million AAdvantage bonus miles that they can redeem for travel through the new site."

Established in 1981 and boasting more than 56 million members, the Texas-based airline's frequent-flier program is the oldest as well as the most popular in the world.
