American Airlines wins Outstanding Achievement Award
American Airlines has been honored with an Outstanding Achievement Award from Overhaul & Maintenance magazine for its progress in the field of engineering.
Along with the Transport Workers Union (TWU), the world's largest carrier has been rewarded for its success in turning a profit from its maintenance and engineering operations, while maintaining the efficacy, efficiency, and reliability of its service.
Bob Reding, Senior Vice-President of Technical Operations at American, and John Conley, AA System Coordinator at the TWU Air Transport Division, collected their awards at the annual Aviation Week maintenance, repair, and overhaul meeting in Atlanta.
Speaking at the yearly conference and exhibition, Frank Jackman - editor of Overhaul & Maintenance magazine - told guests that the pair "have worked together as partners to transform the airline's maintenance and engineering organization from a cost center to a profit center".
He praised American Airlines for achieving this profit along with "improved efficiencies, and significantly optimized operations".
