Save on SAS to Scandinavia, Europe

One of the most innovative, service-intensive airlines on the planet is selling cheap flights to Europe right now, with prices starting as low as $266. That’s SAS’s price for a one-way ticket from New York/Newark (EWR) to Copenhagen (CPH).

The rate, as with all those we’re about to quote, is good for travel originating through May 17. These discount airfares are one-way, and pegged to a round-trip purchase. Neither taxes nor fees are included. They’re extra.

Here’s a sampling of some of the savings SAS is offering:

- Washington, D.C. Dulles (IAD) to Stockholm (ARN) $317

- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Oslo (OSL) $398

- Seattle/Tacoma (SEA) to Copenhagen $441

- New York/Newark to Gdansk (GDN) $406

- Chicago O’Hare to Warsaw (WAW) $418

- Seattle/Tacoma to Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) $346

All these quotes are for Economy Class passage.

SAS is one of a growing number of airlines that have added a new “middle cabin”, a souped-up Economy section. In this case it’s called Economy Extra. The carrier offers 2x3x2 seating in this part of the airplane, and more personal space. Seats are wider, ergonomically designed. There are foot and headrests for comfort and a modicum of privacy. It’s not Business Class, but it does offer those few precious inches of room that can make all the difference on a transatlantic sojourn.
