Spirit launches second Puerto Rican connection
Florida-based Spirit Airlines inaugurated its new nonstop link between Fort Lauderdale and Aguadilla in Puerto Rico yesterday (Thursday, April 12).
The low-cost carrier's second destination in the West Atlantic archipelago can now be reached with five flights per week from Fort Lauderdale (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
The youngest fleet of Airbus aircraft in the Americas is serving the new connection.
"We are pleased to offer our customers more low-fare options for travel to one of the most preferred island destinations in the Caribbean," said Michael Pewther, Senior Director of Sales for Spirit.
The low-fare airline has offered flights to Puerto Rico since 2001, when it inaugurated a nonstop link with the unincorporated territory's capital San Juan.
Spirit now connects 34 destinations, and provides a selection of connecting services for Puerto Rico fliers from its Fort Lauderdale hub.
