AA announces Colombian expansion
American Airlines will operate an additional 14 round-trips per week between Miami and Colombia from December.
The world's largest carrier is lining up extra flights from its Florida hub to Barranquilla, Bogota, and Medellin. Upgraded services will begin on December 13, just months after the carrier celebrates the 17th anniversary since the launch of its first link with Colombia.
Daily Boeing 737 flights to the port of Barranquilla will depart the south-east at 10.30am, with a new return journey at 2.20pm. For Medellin, passengers will be able to catch new links each Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 10.05am, and fly back at 2.25pm.
New links with Bogota, Colombia's most populous city and capital, will be inaugurated on December 14 and include outbound journeys each Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 7.05pm, provided by Boeing 757 jets.
Extra return legs to Florida will be brought in each Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, at 11.40am.
All cited times are local.
American already operates two daily round-trips between Miami and Bogota, using Boeing 767s and Airbus 300s.
"American Airlines has a long history in Colombia," beamed Peter Dolara, the carrier's Senior Vice-President of Miami, Caribbean, and Latin American services.
"These are significant next steps as we continue to grow the Colombian market."
