Allegiant Air

New Springfield-Vegas service for Allegiant

Continuing a recent flurry of new routes, Allegiant Air has announced a new nonstop flight from Springfield, Illinois, to Las Vegas.

With prices starting at a low $79 one-way, the twice-weekly flights begin on August 17 and present Central Illinois residents with the chance to jet off to the bright lights of the Vegas strip.

Maurice J Gallagher, Allegiant Air President and Chief Executive, was thrilled with the new route: "We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service within the Central Illinois community.

"This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only full-size jet service between Springfield, Illinois and Las Vegas."

Frank Vala, Springfield Airport Authority Board Chairman, confirmed that market research had indicated that a Springfield-Vegas route would prove popular:

"This is a terrific addition to our air service offering. More importantly, the people of Springfield and Central Illinois have been asking for direct flights to popular destinations like Las Vegas, and now they have it," he said.

Allegiant recently carried out a presentation at a Merrill Lynch conference, outlining its plans to make Las Vegas an accessible holiday destination for more small cities across the US.
