Skyline mural unveiled at JFK

A take on the famous New York skyline has been unveiled at the newly constructed American Airlines terminal at John F Kennedy airport.

Measuring 397 feet, the mural is entitled Skyline of the World and has been created for the new building by New York artist and architect Matteo Pericoli.

Stretching along the east wall of the terminal's main ticketing area, the mural incorporates famous Big Apple landmarks with those of other countries in order to appeal to international travelers passing through.

The skyline it depicts includes the outline of the Brooklyn Bridge, among other New York structures, and landmarks from 70 other cities, such as the Sydney Opera House and Toronto City Hall.

"Skyline of the World combines many of the destinations American Airlines flies to from JFK into a single, extraordinary image," said Chuck Imhof, the airline's Vice-President. "It sends a powerful message that when New Yorkers think about international travel, they should think of American Airlines and our new terminal at JFK Airport."

It is expected that, once completed, the new American Airlines terminal at JFK will accommodate more than 12 million travelers each year.
