Allegiant begins flights from Biloxi
Allegiant Air has announced new nonstop flights from Biloxi, Mississippi.
The vacation airline confirmed that most of the seats for its initial three weekly flights to Orlando had already been sold.
The discount carrier is offering special $49 one-way tickets to Orlando, allowing Mississippi residents a bargain opportunity to enjoy the Sunshine State.
Allegiant also announced twice-weekly nonstop flights to Las Vegas from Biloxi, with passengers on the new route's inaugural flight set for a sneak preview of Vegas attractions, with a showgirl and Elvis impersonator providing in-flight entertainment.
Jeremiah Gerald, Air Service Development Manager for Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, said that the new flights continued the concerted development effort at the Mississippi airport, reports the Sun Herald newspaper.
"We're already planning for our next expansion," he said. "The sky's the limit."
Gulfport-Biloxi now serves six airlines and is looking to expand its relations with carriers from the Midwest and north-east.
The announcement was one of a host of new flights to Las Vegas added by Allegiant, with services from Springfield and Champaign recently confirmed.
