Dogs take advantage of Midwest Premier Pet program
Two canine athletes were the beneficiaries of Midwest Airlines' commitment to supporting passengers with pets, on Sunday.
Mako, an Australian shepherd dog, and Nemo, a Jack Russell terrier, are both ambassadors for the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge, and flew from Fort Lauderdale to New York, accompanied by their trainer, Lourdes Edlin.
While Nemo sat below Edlin's seat, Mako took advantage of his size and had an entire seat to himself.
Susan Kerwin-Hagen, Coordinator of the Midwest Airlines Premier Pet Program, said that the carrier would always make the effort to accommodate passengers' pets.
"We recognize the challenges and fears our customers face when traveling with their pets, and carefully train our employees in the safe treatment and transport of pets," she said.
"We developed the program to provide our customers with a value-added service and loyalty program not offered by our competitors."
The Premier Pet Program was launched in 2005 and allows passengers to redeem their own air miles for pet travel.
