Midwest’s long-term fare sale – confidence in future?
© BoeingClassy Midwest Airlines is running a long-term fare sale, with rates good for travel August 14 through February 2008. One-way discount airfares start at $54.
The dates are significant - evidencing, perhaps, some confidence that the carrier will remain an independent airline for some time to come. That’s certainly the hope of Midwest executives with whom Cheapflights met recently. Discount airline AirTran Airways is avidly pursuing a Midwest merger, with AirTran as the surviving entity. AirTran executives tell Cheapflights that should Midwest stockholders be moved to merge they could do it quickly, deciding the issue “within a period of three days”.
For now, however, it’s business as usual at Midwest: route expansion, changes in aircraft seating configurations (more on that in a future Cheapflights story), and, of course, fare sales.
These discount airfares have to be purchased no later than 11:59pm tonight (Friday, July 27). Do that and fly from August 14 through February 13, 2008.
Purchase 21 days in advance, travel on the off-peak days of Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday, and stay over either three nights or on a Friday night or Saturday night. All the discount airfares quoted below are one-way, and predicated upon a round-trip purchase. Neither taxes nor fees are included. They’re extra.
