Plug in, charge up at LAX - free

All the great gadgets you travel with don’t matter much if they run out of juice. No power, no pleasure; be they cell phones, laptops, or iPods.

Far too often fliers have had to scramble about looking for any available outlet, perhaps one embedded in a support pillar, or tucked into the carpeting. Then, they’ve had to sprawl on the floor while power-dependent devices re-charge.

Now, there is word that Los Angeles International (LAX) is installing 51 Samsung Mobile Charging Stations in the airport’s terminals, including the heavily used Tom Bradley International Terminal.

LAX officials say that each Samsung Mobile Charging Station will have four outlets. The timing of this move is terrific. It comes just as the summer travel surge is poised to hit its peak.

What’s perhaps neatest about the new power points is that you can recharge without a charge. Plug in and power up for free.
