AA completes $1.3bn terminal at JFK

American Airlines has opened a new $1.3 billion terminal at New York JFK. With 84 ticketing positions, 44 self-service check-in machines, and a state-of-the-art baggage system, the terminal is more than 1.58 million square feet in size.

Gerard Arpey, Chairman and Chief Executive of American Airlines, said that the new terminal was a great development for the airport. "We're giving visitors to New York City a great first impression with our state-of-the-art facility, which includes… two new Admirals Club lounges and a Flagship Lounge."

"From our speedier security and customs processing to the New York City-themed art on the walls, our new terminal is producing a more convenient, welcoming and enjoyable travel experience for visitors and New Yorkers alike."

The terminal's security checkpoints can process 1,800 passengers every hour, while the Customs and Immigration facility can handle 1,600 travelers per hour.
