Seating improvements at Hartsfield-Jackson

New benches have been installed as part of a renovation program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, the world's busiest hub.

Some 20 black benches have been inserted outside the north terminal, in line with a $6 billion improvement project, reports The Clayton News Daily.

The new seating represents a small part of the airport's development. A new international terminal will be added, as well as the expected completion of the fifth runway, and $800 million worth of improvements to the Central Passenger Terminal Complex.

The latter is expected to be completed in December 2010, with an overhaul of the terminal's plumbing works, ceiling strength, and internal walls and columns.

Herschel Grangent, Spokesman for Hartsfield-Jackson, explained the changes to The Clayton News Daily: "Over the next couple of years or so, we're doing a lot of general improvements.

"This is all part of trying to keep up with passengers and customer service... It's all about customer service, that's the bottom line," he stressed.
