US Airways looks to international expansion
US Airways is to consider international expansion after confirming the arrival of more than 200 new aircraft. An agreement with Airbus will see 32 wide-body planes and 60 A320 narrow-body aircraft delivered to US Airways, alongside two other shipments of 22 A350 XWBs in 2014.
The A350 XWMB series planes will enable "modest international expansion" and will mark the North American debut of the 800 and 900 versions.
Doug Parker, US Airways' Chief Executive and Chaiman, said: "We are very pleased to have cemented our order with Airbus and look forward to continued success as we add these new safe, efficient and comfortable airplanes to our fleet.
"Our employees will benefit from new, state-of-the-art aircraft in which our customers will receive the great service they deserve and expect."
US Airways recently confirmed that it would cut the number of flights it operates to and from Pittsburgh to concentrate on routes with higher passenger demand.
