Orlando International welcomes Lufthansa
Lufthansa, the German flag carrier, arrived in Florida this week with a new service from Frankfurt to Orlando International Airport.
The first flight between the two cities touched down on Tuesday evening (October 30). The local fire service marked the occasion with a water-cannon salute.
Lufthansa announced plans in June to launch the new service, which it said will connect passengers to 58 destinations around the world.
Richard Crotty, Orange County Mayor, said at the time: "These direct flights to Frankfurt, which is a major gateway to India and China, are an important milestone on our road to economic diversity."
Orlando is the 20th North American city served by Lufthansa. The airline already operates service out of Chicago O'Hare International, among others.
