St. Louis adds cell lot – Lambert joins the list

Cell-phone lots are appearing at airports all over the country, automobile enclaves where drivers can park free while awaiting a pick-up call from family, friend, or colleague at the terminal. They cut terminal roadway congestion, improve airport security, and save time. What’s not to like?

Add Lambert-St. Louis International (STL) to the list of airports building cell phone lots. STL is a focus city for both discount airline Southwest, and American Airlines.

Lambert's lot will be one of the largest in the country with 150 spaces. There will be a large airline flight information display board to let meters and greeters know when a flight’s arrived.

The new cell lot will be located on the north side of Lambert International Boulevard, just east of Cyprus and a mile-and-a-half off the Interstate 70 exit.

St. Louis officials say the lot should be up and running by the onset of the busy Thanksgiving holiday.
