Canada’s wintertime charms – American’s deals
Canada has a special allure at this time of year: skiing, wintertime vistas, wood fires and sublime mountain lodges. To get you there, American Airlines is offering discount airfares to a slew of north-of-the-border destinations, with some round-trips in the $418 range.
You’re going to have to book, buy and fly fast to take advantage of these discount airfares – by January 7, 2008. Go to www.aa.com to make that buy. All the discount airfares quoted here are round-trip, but they do not include taxes or fees. That’s going to cost you extra.
You’ll have to purchase these discount airfares at least seven days prior to departure. As for blackout dates, these include December 21-23, 26–27, 29–30; January 1–2, or January 6, 2008.
Here’s a sampling of the savings AA (that’s American’s code) is offering just now:
- Albuquerque (ABQ) to Montreal (YUL) $800
- Atlanta (ATL) to Halifax (YHZ) $568
- Atlanta to Toronto (YYZ) $633
- Austin (AUS) to Ottawa (YOW) $549
- Boston (BOS) to Toronto $609
- Charlotte (CLT) to Toronto $519
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Montreal $570
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Calgary (YYC) $633
- Dallas/Fort Worth to Vancouver (YVR) $620
- Denver (DEN) to Ottawa $650
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Montreal $832
- Los Angeles to Toronto $725
- Miami (MIA) to Toronto $643
- Chicago O’Hare to Toronto $418
Flyers who frequent Canada know that a number of Canadian airports — such as Vancouver International and Toronto Pearson — have pre-clearance lanes that allow you to clear Customs prior to leaving Canada.
That way you can get off the plane in the United States and be on your way.
