Skywest plane doubles as Santa sleigh for school kids
SkyWest Airlines' subsidiary Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) flew a group of school children from Hendrix Drive Elementary School in Georgia to Mississippi to meet Santa yesterday (Monday, December 3).
The carrier's 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 regional jet was renamed Santa's Special Sleigh for the journey.
Organized as part of Clayton County's Adopt-A-School initiative, the 24 passengers were chosen for their performance in the school's reading program.
Sam Watts, ASA's Vice-President of People, explained: "For many of these children Santa's Special Sleigh is their first opportunity to experience the excitement of flying.
"They have worked hard to excel in their school's reading program and ASA is proud to be part of rewarding their accomplishments."
The festive flight touched down at Meridian Regional Airport and pupils were taken to The Dentzel Carousel to meet Santa, before flying back to Clayton County for the end of the school day.
