Travel fit – here’s how

Frequent flying can beat you up, and leave you lank for the vacation, or business trip, ahead. To help mitigate the travails of air travel Weight Watchers offers some tips. Weight Watchers’ suggestions are from a new book Weight Watchers Start Living, Start Losing: Real Stories That Will Motivate You Now.

- Wear running shoes to the airport. That way you can spend your layover in low-intensity workouts, instead of cramming burgers in your face at the food court. When I travel through the Atlanta airport I make it a point to walk among the megaport’s six terminals, not ride the train. Some airports even have on-site gyms. To find out where they are, visit Airport Gyms.

- Take along healthy snacks, not candy, cakes and such. Granola is great, or an apple. I’ve found that one of the most health-conscious airport enclaves around is The Grove, which serves fresh fruit, nuts, and such. Pack them aboard your flight. Another tip from Cheapflights: watch the alcohol. Nothing dries you out, or wears you out, faster.

- Make the same choices that you would at home. As best as possible, eat on the road the way you would at home.
