El Al ups LAX to Tel Aviv departures

Headed for the Holy Land from LA? El Al makes planning easier this spring by laying on a fifth weekly nonstop from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tel Aviv (TLV). To get your attention, the Israeli flag carrier is offering an “early bird” round-trip discount airfare of $1,483 on the route. That's the rate in Economy.

El Al starts flying the fifth extra departure on April 1, using a three-class 777 on the long haul.

More savings: if you'd like to take along a companion back in Economy Class, the round-trip price is $1,433 per person. Should you want the room and amenities Platinum Business Class affords, the carrier is selling round-trip companion passage in that section of the airplane too. The cost per person in Business is $3,976; First Class goes for $7,105 per person - again predicated upon traveling with a companion.

These companion discount airfares are for flights from April 1 through May 31. The rates are good on off-peak days. Outbound from LAX that means Monday through Wednesday. On returns from Tel Aviv, fly Tuesdays through Thursdays. To get these companion rates, be sure to book travel for both passengers at the same time, and same flights for the same dates. That's important to remember.
