ATA Airlines to cut Midway service
ATA Airlines has announced plans to withdraw both domestic and international air services from Chicago's Midway International Airport.
From April 14, the carrier will no longer operate services from or to Midway for all markets including Oakland and Dallas/Fort Worth.
International flights to Cancun and Guadalajara in Mexico will be discontinued on June 7, though flights to the West Coast and Hawaii will remain unaffected.
Passengers with tickets for discontinued ATA flights will receive full refunds and further details are available online.
Rob Binns, Chief Commercial and Planning Officer at the airline, said: "ATA has operated a Midway hub since 1992, and we have greatly appreciated the support we received from the City of Chicago and our many customers during those years.
"This was a difficult decision, but the high cost of fuel has made it economically unfeasible to continue our low-fare service at Midway. We will redeploy our ATA aircraft in profitable charter service."
