10,000 passengers use Clear at Albany Int'l

The introduction of express security lanes at Albany International Airport last year has proved successful so far.

Since introducing the lanes for members of the Clear pass program, more than 10,000 passengers have made use of the new system.

This has helped to cut waiting times at security checkpoints and made it easier for frequent flyers to pass through security, reports The Business Review.

Albany was one of the first airports in the U.S. to introduce the Clear lanes in August 2007.

A Clear kiosk is located in the ticketing area to enable new members to start the registration process.

David E Langdon, Chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority, said at the time: "Clear will enable our passengers to better plan their trips by offering immediate access to the Transportation Security Administration security checkpoint here in Albany and at many of the major connecting hubs that serve Albany-bound passengers."

New flights to Boston from Albany were introduced by US Airways earlier this month. The carrier is set to introduce services to Buffalo on May 5.
