US Airways pilots form new union
Pilots from US Airways have left the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) and formed their own union.
The US Airline Pilots Association (USAPA) will represent the interests of more than 5,000 of the airline's pilots.
The decision was reached following a vote, with the National Mediation Board making the announcement on Thursday afternoon (April 17).
Captain Stephen Bradford, President of USAPA, commented: "The US Airways pilots have spoken for a change in union representation. USAPA is ready on day one to begin a new era for all US Airways pilots, East and West.
"We will join the other great independent airline pilot unions on the national front, while our pilots enjoy single carrier union representation, solely focused on our pilots needs and fully accountable only to them."
