Gulfstream eyes Pennsylvania service
Gulfstream International Airlines is said to be considering a move into Pennsylvania with a bid to provide service between Johnstown-Cambria County Airport and Altoona.
The service is currently operated by Colgan Air under terms of an Essential Air Service (EAS) agreement established in 2002.
However, the airline announced plans to suspend the service in June due to increased fuel prices. The Department of Transportation (DOT) said Colgan must satisfy the terms of its EAS and asked other interested airlines to submit proposals.
Gulfstream has said it would run four round-trips on weekdays with DOT support of $3.17 million or three flights a week for a $2.64 million subsidy.
Colgan's proposals are $2.79 million for three weekday and three weekend round-trips from Johnstown and Altoona to Washington Dulles.
Dave Hackett, President of Gulfstream told The Tribune-Democrat, that it plans to run flights to Continental's Cleveland hub as a Continental Connection service.
