US Airways launches Biloxi-Charlotte service

US Airways launched its latest regional service at the weekend with nonstop flights from Gulfport-Biloxi to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Three flights a day will operate between the two cities, with the airline stating the schedule is designed with business passengers in mind.

Passengers can take advantage of early morning, mid afternoon and evening flight to Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.

Flights depart Charlotte at 9:30am, 2:30pm or 8:30pm, for the return leg passengers can leave Biloxi at 6:05am, 11:05am or 4:15pm.

Sunday's inaugural flight was welcomed at Gulfport-Biloxi by local mayor Brett Warr.

He told local news network WLOX that the new flights would be a boost for the region's economy: "If anybody wants to establish a corporate presence in the state of Mississippi, we want them to do it right here in Gulfport, Mississippi."

The new service has been launched to complement US Airways' existing flights to Fort Walton and Panama City which were introduced on April 6.
