Continental in new tie-up with ExpressJet
Continental Airlines has reached an agreement with ExpressJet which will see it take on new services at a reduced cost.
The new seven-year capacity purchase deal will see regional jets supplied by ExpressJet at undisclosed but "competitive rates" beginning July 1.
Covering operation by ExpressJet of a minimum of 205 regional jets in the first year and 190 regional jets thereafter, Continental said the deal would reward the company and its passengers.
"The new contract enables Continental to continue to benefit from the excellent service and substantial feed traffic provided by ExpressJet," it said in a statement.
Under the terms of the agreement, ExpressJet can also return 39 Embraer 50-seat regional jets, which the airline will either sub-lease or ground to "better align regional capacity".
Continental Airlines is the world's fifth-largest airline and has more than 3,100 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, every day.
