United Airlines to double Palmdale service
United Airlines will double the number of flights it offers between LA/Palmdale Regional Airport and San Francisco (SFO).
The carrier will operate four daily flights to Palmdale from September, increasing capacity by 20 percent.
It is hoped the increased service will enhance Palmdale's status as an alternative to LAX. The move will also make it easier for Palmdale passengers to connect with other United services at SFO.
Mike Antonovich, Los Angeles County Supervisor, said: "This action is a positive step forward in our expansion efforts for LA/Palmdale Airport to become a viable alternative to LAX for the hundreds of thousands of citizens living in the North County and throughout the region.
"At a time when many airports and carriers are cutting back flights, United is increasing service, flexibility and convenience at LA/Palmdale Airport to anticipate future demand."
United introduced services at Palmdale last year with two daily flights operated by 50-seat regional jets, these aircraft will be replaced by 30-seat turboprop planes when the new schedule comes into force.

United is not starting new flights, its feeder carriers are. United continues to expand the feeder carriers and not the mainline United Airlines. The most inefficient aircraft in the world are regional jets, based on fuel burn per passenger per seat/mile! Glen Tilon doesn't want to run an airline, he wants to fill his pockets with cash.
