Delta Air Lines to cut fall flights from CVG
Delta Air Lines has said that it will cut almost 23 percent of flights this fall out of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International (CVG) as it battles sky-high fuel prices.
Around 314 flights will depart the airport on peak days with the most traffic, compared with about 407 flights last fall, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Some of those cuts are part of the normal reduced schedule for the slower fall flying season, but Delta officials say fuel prices have also forced the airline to reduce service at CVG and elsewhere.
Robert Cortelyou, Senior Vice-President of Network Planning told the newspaper: "Everybody knows what’s happening with fuel – it’s hitting us hard."
He added that Cincinnati wasn't being singled out for cuts.
Other airports seeing significant Delta cuts are Atlanta and Salt Lake City as well as Boston and Orlando.
