Delta Air Lines puts European cities on sale

Rome

Great discount airfares can still be had despite the meteoric rise in fuel prices. Delta Air Lines is offering deals from its New York Kennedy (JFK) hub just now that begin as low as $429, each way.

Book and buy no later than July 7. When you fly on these fares is pegged to where you fly - both in terms of dates, and day of the week. All the discount airfares quoted below are each-way, but they're based on a round-trip purchase. That's important to remember when budgeting for the trip. So too is this: neither taxes nor fees are included in these quotes. They're extra.

To get these discount airfares you'll have to make a seven-day advance purchase unless you're flying to Milan or Rome. There are no advance purchase provisos for these Italian destinations. You'll have to stay over at least one Saturday night to land one of the deals. Buy these fares online at delta.com for the cheapest rate; buy over the phone or at a Delta ticket counter and pay $25 more.

Here is a selection of the discount airfares Delta is offering from its New York Kennedy hub, to:

- Amsterdam (AMS) $459
- Bucharest (OTP) $529
- London Gatwick (LGW) $429
- London Heathrow (LHR) $429
- Milan (MXP) $499
- Moscow (SVO) $539
- Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) $509
- Rome (FCO) $599
