Delta Connection to stop flying to Toledo
Delta Connection will stop serving Toledo Express Airport later this year, making a total of six major air carriers to have cut operations to the airport since 2000.
Toledo will have just eight daily departures and a handful of other passenger flights to Florida after Delta stops services.
Air traffic at the airport is expected to shrink by a half by the year's end, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Nadeem Salem, Chairman of the airport's board of directors, told the newspaper that passenger service is out of the managers' control. "We're just kind of sitting here and holding on tight," he said.
Michael Boyd, an airline consultant working with the Toledo airport, told the newspaper that Toledo's drop is largely because it is so close to Detroit's airport.
Toledo Express Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Airport are about 70 miles apart.
