Runway expansion at Charlottesville Airport
Plans for developing a longer runway are underway at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO).
Officials want to extend the runway by 800 feet, pointing north toward Chris Greene Lake, 19 News reported.
The airport's Executive Director told the local TV station that a bigger runway is key to keeping the airport in business. Barbara Hutchinson said: "It's crucial to maintain our air service to go ahead and extend the runway.
"When airlines are looking at cutting service, it's certainly something that doesn't look good on our fact sheet."
The Albemarle Planning Commission will hold a meeting to discuss the issue on Tuesday (July 29).
