Southwest to add Albany-Fort Lauderdale flight
Southwest Airlines will launch daily flights between Albany and Fort Lauderdale in November.
The new service is part of several schedule changes revealed by the carrier last week.
Flights to Fort Lauderdale from Albany will begin on November 2 and will take off the day after American Eagle suspends its services from the New York airport.
Chris O'Donnell, Chief Executive of Albany International Airport told The Times Union that he expects Southwest to operate 15 daily departures by the end of fall.
He also explained that the airline's decision to cut one of its seven daily flights to Baltimore will be overturned later on in the year, suggesting the flight will resume before winter.
To celebrate the new Florida service Southwest is offering one-way fares of $89 for passengers who book 14 days in advance through January 9, 2009.
