Stewart to lose Delta Air Lines, JetBlue flights
Stewart International Airport near Newburgh, New York, is to lose several services from Delta Air Lines and JetBlue in September.
This follows Skybus going out of business in April and AirTran Airways' recent announcement that it would stop flying to Stewart on September 3.
However, the reductions have not dampened the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's plans to develop Stewart as a less-congested alternative to JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia.
Marc Lavorgna, Spokesperson for the Port Authority, explained to the Times Union: "We have changes in service at all the airports. Reduction in service is the trend you're seeing now."
However, he maintained that the drop in service "does not change our opinion of the future of Stewart at all".
"We still believe, in the long run, Stewart will be the success that everyone wants it to be."
