Vietnam Airlines' direct services to U.S. delayed
Vietnam Airlines' direct services to the U.S. have been delayed once again due to the carrier being unable to meet stringent safety criteria.
The carrier has been trying to launch direct services to the U.S. for nearly two years, but despite a $1.4 million injection from the U.S. to help lift safety standards the airline has failed to meet its deadlines.
Vietnam Airlines is now said to be looking to launch at the start of 2009.
It has already been operating codeshare flights with China Airlines and American Airlines to take passengers to 12 cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Washington.
