AirTran Airways Atlanta-Savannah flights ending

AirTran is ending its services between Atlanta and Savannah, with flights ceasing to service the Hilton Head International Aiport as of October 27.

Judy Graham-Weaver, Manager of Public Relations for AirTran, told The Hilton Head Island Packet: "The Savannah/Hilton Head market is a high leisure route with very little originating business traffic, and what is there has typically supported Delta [Air Lines].

"It is tough to get a good yield in the market."

However, Delta too has cut its services to and from Hilton Head – flights will end November 30.

The airport is now in talks with low-cost carriers like JetBlue and Southwest.
