AirTran Airways to cut one Charleston flight
AirTran Airways will operate one flight fewer from Charleston International Airport (Web site: www.chs-airport.com) from September 4. As a result, there will now be three flights out of the airport.
Cynthia Tinsley-Douglas, a spokeswoman for the airline, told The Charleston Post and Courier that the cutback was seasonal procedure that the carrier pushed ahead because of fuel prices.
AirTran cut its fourth flight last year as well for its lighter winter schedule, but the 2007 change happened around Christmas time.
Since AirTran started serving Charleston International in May 2007, the airport has seen 20 percent more passenger traffic as well as the nation's fastest drop in ticket prices.
