Southwest to cut four Raleigh-Durham flights

Southwest Airlines is to reduce a number of its services flying from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to four cities.

The carrier will cut one flight each from RDU to Chicago, Las Vegas, Nashville and Orlando, The Dallas Business Journal reports.

Brandy King, Southwest spokeswoman, told the publication: "We did make some schedule adjustments overall, and it impacted several of our cities and airports.

"It's just a normal process for Southwest to adjust their schedule."

The Dallas Business Journal says that the reductions on flights to Las Vegas and Nashville are permanent, but the cuts to the Orlando and Chicago flights are seasonal, and Southwest hopes that those flights will take off again in March 2009.

Meanwhile, a new terminal is to open at RDU this October.

Passengers using American Airlines, American Eagle, United Airlines, Air Canada and Charter Express will start using Terminal 2 on the morning of October 26.
