United to trial new menu in coach, business classes

United Airlines is to trial a new food menu in coach and business classes on board its flight during the fourth quarter of this year (September-December).

On domestic flights with three cabins of service, the carrier will offer United Business customers complimentary fresh sandwiches, salads, snack boxes or snacks, depending on the length of flight.

These will be the same as the Buy-on-Board sandwiches and salads offered in United Economy.

For transatlantic flights flying to and from Washington, the airline will be offering economy customers fresh Buy-on-Board options, including sandwiches, salads and snack boxes.

There are no changes for international business or first-class customers, and the airline will evaluate the results of the trial and determine next steps at the end of the year.

Earlier this week, United announced that from September 2, it will stop serving free snacks in coach class on board some of its international routes, making it the first carrier to do so.
