Delta Air Lines Cuts Flights at Tallahassee Airport
Several interstate travel routes operated by Delta Air Lines will be discontinued from October 1.
The decision has been taken following increases in the cost of aircraft fuel over the past few years.
Philip Inglese, Assistant Director of the Tallahassee Regional Airport (Web site: www.talgov.com/airport), explained that the decision was also likely to have resulted from fewer numbers of passengers on flights.
"Delta Air Lines made a corporate decision, nationally, to stop serving low-volume destination markets which includes Florida in-state travel."
Other destinations set to be affected by the decision include Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Tampa.
However, Inglese did point out that there were several alternatives to the carrier's routes in Florida.
He explained: "American Airlines' subsidiary, American Eagle, a smaller carrier, offers daily nonstop flights to Miami and Continental Gulf Stream Airlines offers nonstop flights to Tampa, Orlando, Ft Lauderdale and Miami as well as Palm Beach."
