Discount Airfare: Delta Air Lines' Atlanta Sale

There are a couple of things that are interesting about this deal from Delta Air Lines. First, the carrier is putting a significant swath of its service on sale from its prime hub, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Second, you don’t have to make a round-trip purchase to land these discount airfares. One-way seats start at $59, exclusive of taxes and fees.

Book and buy no later than September 16. Then, fly Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays all the way through January 28, 2009. As you might expect, there are some blackout dates: November 26, 29, and 30; December 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28. As for 2009, you can’t fly on these discount airfares January 2, 3, and 4. There is no minimum-stay requirement

To get these rates, you’ve got to book and buy at Delta’s Web site (www.delta.com), at least ten days in advance of when you want to depart.

This is the most significant Delta sale out of Atlanta that we’ve seen in a while. Time it right and, even though travel days immediately around the holidays are blacked out, you can still wring some seasonal savings out of these discount airfares.

That said, here’s a sampling of the deals DL is offering from the planet’s busiest airport to:
